Pin Sights Challenge @ Ellen Hutson

Hi Everyone!!  So, here are a couple of firsts for me.  1.  First time colouring on kraft cardstock with coloured pencils and  2. Entering the Ellen Hutson Pinsights Challenge.
I've never made a card using an "inspiration board" before.  The board contains many pretty images with a color palette at the bottom...this is the one for the challenge:

Lot of pretty things and lovely colors, right??  Basically, my inspiration was the bottom right photo...florals, of course:)

I started my stamping/masking my images in Colorbox Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink.  I used the Bohemian Garden stamp set from Ellen Hutson. Now I only have the Prismacolor Scholar pencils so that's what I used. (I should mention I also have the complete set of Spectrum Noir coloured pencils but don't used them, I know, a shame.  Truth be told, their system of numbering the pencils just doesn't make any sense to me.  All I want is three shades of each color...with NAMES preferably...sorry, let's get back on track!)
I chose shades as close as I could get to the color palette on the inspiration board and started colouring!!  This technique is awesome...I think it would be really hard to NOT get pretty results!!
After all my colouring was done, the real problems started.  The sentiment.  The sentiment that I didn't plan for before I stamped my flowers.

Nope!!  Let's try something else...
Almost, but not quite...
Ok, so it definitely has to be vellum...and this is what I decided...
Yes!!
After placing the sentiment and a few embellishments, I matted the kraft piece on white cardstock and popped those up onto my card base.

I really loved this technique and will definitely be trying it again!!
Thanks for stopping by today, hope you enjoyed!!

Stay Crafty!!

Your Next Stamp Sketch Challenge #22

So, I've been spending a little time in my craft room this weekend (as you can probably tell)!  Two posts in one day!!! WHAT??!!  Anyway, I'm certainly enjoying my time!  I'm entering a card into the Your Next Stamp Sketch Challenge #22.

I am currently waiting for quite a substantial order from them, lol!!  So, what better way to get prepared for that order than to play with the stuff I have!!

I used the Quirky Critters #1 stamp set (ordered the co-ordinating dies, yay!) for my card today.  Super, duper cute images!!  I also made this a 4 bar note card...addicted to this size!  So easy to "finish", if that makes sense.  I also added some texture by using a scrap piece of burlap cardstock I had laying around.  Looks pretty cool, I think!

So before I post the pic, let me point out that I need some practice in centering my panels...totally didn't notice how wonky the centre image was!  I left it because I did the exact same thing earlier and when I tried to remove the piece (with mounting foam) it basically ruined the card.

Anyway, here it is!!

Hope you enjoyed and thanks for stopping by!!

Paper Smooches Anything Goes (wk1) Challenge

Happy Saturday!!  Don't you love it when you have this brilliant, stunning idea in your head and when it comes time to create, your end product ends up looking um, less than stellar?  That was the case with this card...although in the end, I actually love it.  This is for the current www.papersmoochesstamps.com Sparks Challenge, which is an Anything Goes theme!!

First I used the Coffee and Tea dies to cut the teapot out of a piece of scrap patterned paper.  I used the Flowers dies to cut various flowers out of some 80lb Neenah cardstock.  I coloured the flowers with my Spectrum Noir markers.

I've been really addicted to 4 bar sized cards lately so to make my base I used dies from Mama Elephant.  I used a stitched circle die as well as a scalloped circle die to place my elements on.

I arranged my elements and decided I needed to ground my teapot, so I used the Shadows stamp set with some light grey ink.

I adhered all my tiny pieces and added some white details with my Sakura white gel pen.  I also added Glossy Accents to the pot...which ended up being all bubbly and kinda yucky.  Cannot wait to get some fine tips for that stuff!!!  I used the Sentiment Sampler set for the greeting in Ranger Ink.

And here is my finished card and entry for the Challenge!!

Hope you enjoyed!!

Stay crafty, friends!!

Ellen Hutson Mix It Up & Card Share

Hi all!!  Sorry it's been awhile.  My crafty mojo has been on hiatus, but it may have returned.  I wanted to share my card entry for the current Ellen Hutson Mix it Up Challenge.  This challenge involves using products from Impression Obsession.

I literally have three products from IO..two background stamps and a tiny bow die...this was indeed a challenge!
I actually made three cards using these products.  There is something I love about each one but none of them "blew me away".  But I had to pick one to enter...and this is it!!

I used the Wish Big stamp set from Ellen Hutson and the Zebra background stamp from Impression Obsession.
Here are a couple of my other tries:

I used Mondo Magnolia (Ellen Hutson) stamps/dies and the Beauty Text background stamp (IO) for the top card and Bohemian Garden and again, the Beauty Text background for the bottom card.

Hope you enjoyed!!
