Sunday Card-Making Day

Hi everyone!!  It's a bright and sunny Sunday but its cool and windy...so I decided to chill out in my craft room today (go figure).
I needed a birthday card for a co-worker this week so I thought I'd show you the process.  I've had the Simon Says Stamp Adult Beverages stamp set for quite sometime now and have never used it...am I the only one with unused stamps/dies laying around??  Please tell me I'm not!!
Its a very basic stamp but the possibilities will be endless!  It also has co-ordinating dies but I don't have them.  I felt like doing some basic heat embossing with watercolour so I stamped the wine glass and cork images in VersaMark on some Tim Holtz watercolour cardstock and heat embossed using white embossing powder (SSS).
I picked Milled Lavender, Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concorde for my "wine" colours and Brushed Corduroy for the corks.

I then used Pumice Stone to fill in the background.  Once that was dry, I spritzed the entire panel with a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls for an all over sparkle.  I also couldn't resist and added more sparkle with my clear Wink of Stella to the wine only.  Then, because no card is complete without Glossy Accents, I added that to the entire wine glass and waited for it to dry...
For the sentiment I used the Basic Banner set from Clearly Besotted and heat embossed the "happy birthday" in Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder and cut it out using the co-ordinating die.
So, now as I got ready to assemble this card I noticed this...

A beautiful purple ink splotch on the inside of the card base....(I was testing out some purple pigment ink that I thought I could use for the sentiment), grrr.  Easy fix, I just cut a panel of cheap, white, thin cardstock and adhered it.
Now, here's the finished product,
I just adhered the watercoloured panel onto some plum coloured cardstock (I think its Stampin' Up), placed the sentiment and added another wine glass (also wink of stella'd up)!

Hope you enjoyed this card!!

Stay crafty, my friends!!

Few Card Challenges

Hi All!! So this past weekend was a long one in Canada...Victoria Day.  And like every other year, the weather was absolutely miserable.  Wind, rain, freezing rain and snow.  So needless to say, I spent my time indoors, in my craft room!!  No complaints about that!!!

I made a few cards just for fun and a few cards for some challenges.  Here are my "for fun" cards:
SSS Partial Cut Flowers and Derwent Inktense pencils.
Waffle Flower Circle Doily Die. LOVE this die!!
Technique Tuesday Chickadees and watercolour.
Now on to my challenge entries.  The first card I entered in the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge...www.flickr.com/groups/simonsaysstamp/discuss/721576504762..
The challenge was to create your own background.  So I whipped out the Lots of Dots stamp set and this is what happened!
I used pale shades of inks, Memento Angel Pink, Desert Sand and Rose Bud and Stampin Up ink in Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Cantaloupe.  The Sentiment is from the SimonSaysStamp Wishing and Sending stamp set.  I finished it off with some twine and a die cut heart from cardstock coloured with the Rose Bud ink. I was trying for a "confetti" look rather than a Bokeh look.  Either way, I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out.
This card is for the Your Next Stamp Sketch and Color Challenge #14. www.yournextstamp.com/blog   I chose the Sketch.  I used the Thanks a Latte stamp and die set, the 3X4 library card with the coordinating stamp from the Overdue Library Card stamp set. The two diagonal strips are patterned paper that had a scalloped print and I just fussy cut the edge.  Finished off with some coffee coloured sequins.
I should mention that all the kraft cardstock I use is Neenah Desert Storm 80lb.

Hope you enjoyed!  Until next time!!

I Love Happy Mail!!!

Hi all!!  So this week ended on a high note...happy mail!!!  My order from Simon Says Stamp and PaperTrey Ink orders arrived.  No matter the type of week I've had (and believe me, this one was a doozie!), opening up those packages just makes the world right again!

I haven't ordered anything from PaperTrey for awhile, so I made up for it!!  I can literally spend hours on that site filling and editing my shopping cart.  The only newer release item I ordered was the Horizontal Split Card die, the rest were older stamp sets like DayDreamer and Doodle-Do, which by the way are AMAZING!!!

I got some newer stuff from Simon Says Stamp.  My first stamps and dies from Waffle Flower..Doily Circle, haven't used them, but can't wait!!  Also, the I Knead You stamps and dies from My Favorite Things.  And finally, Fanciful Flower from Newton's Nook, it is awesome!!

Here's my haul:

And I made this card combining the Fanciful Flowers stamp set with the Hello Foxy stamp/die set from PaperTrey Ink.  Inks are from SU:  Coastal Cabana, Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding and Crushed Curry. I also die cut the largest Scribble Circle die (also PTI) out of vellum to try and ground the cute little fox.

I just want to share one more card.  This one I had a bit of a hard time with.  I used Lawn Fawns Flutter By stamp set, heat embossed in white, then watercolored with Distress Inks.  That was so much fun and went really well.  I had wanted to make a shaker card.  I had the WHOLE thing assembled, then this happened:  I messed up the stamping of the sentiment... on the window sheet...with Staz On.  Ya, I know.  Rookie mistake!!  But this is the result of a little card surgery:

I'm happy with it!

So that's it for now.  I've recently been doing some colouring, as in, colouring book colouring!  It is so good for the mood!!!  I'll post all about it!!

See you later and Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!!!

Love These Card Challenges!!

Okay, so I haven't participated in many but these card challenges are addicting!!  Lately, it's been the SimonsSayStamp Flickr Challenges.  I love these ones so much because of the supportive and encouraging group atmosphere.  There is always someone leaving sweet comments about your creations, makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside:)

So, this card will be entered into the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #18.
https://www.flickr.com/groups/simonsaysstamp/discuss/72157651834113837/.  The challenge is to create a card with flowers, a Mother's Day card or a card with both!!  Mine is both.
This card used few supplies:
Lots of soft and muted colors for this card.  And ALOT of Glossy Accents!!  How I love that stuff!!

I used one of my favourite stamp sets of all time, the Scribble Flowers set from SimonSaysStamp as well as the "Big Thanks" die.  To finish the sentiment off I used the Big Thanks Sentiments.  The banner is from Lawn Fawn's Stitched Party Banner Die set.

So that's the finished card ("Happy Mama's Day" is written inside)!!

Hope you enjoyed!!

Laurie:)
