CAS Paper Smooches Card!

Hi guys!  I wanted to share a quick card with you today and IT'S NOT a Christmas card!  While I love making Christmas cards, I needed a little break from the snowmen and wintry scenes.

I also wanted to create one more entry into the Paper Smooches November Challenge. They are looking for a few designers for their new challenge team and I would just LOVE to be a part of that!!

I combined an older and newer stamp set on my card today.  The first set is Bee Mine and was one of the first PS sets I bought.  And I specifically bought it for the large bee image!

After colouring and die cutting that cutie, I did the same with the clouds from the Sunnyville Stamp Set.  To create my little scene, I used a stitched square die and a grassy border die. I used It's A Boy and Lime Rickey inks from Catherine Pooler to add the colour.

I popped the square panel onto a 3.5 X 5 inch notecard. I love making this size of card when you have a small scene. I really wanted that bee to pop off the card so I used a double layer of foam adhesive.  Of course, no card of mine is complete without some shimmer and shine! I added some sparkly dots on the wings and Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the eyes as well as the wings.

The sentiment comes from the Kindess Sampler Set which is a must have set for your stash!!

I hope you enjoyed the CAS card! Thank you for stopping by!

See you soon,

Laurie

New Create A Smile Stamps Challenge!

Happy Wednesday and welcome back! It's the start of a new challenge over on the Create A Smile Stamps Challenge Blog! And this week, it's a sketch challenge!

CAS has the cutest winter/christmas stamps and the snowmen are some of my favourite images!  I used the Cool Buddies set for my card today.  This set was recently "brought back" and I'm so happy it was!!

I created the background by white heat embossing some of the snowflake images from the set onto a panel of light blue cardstock.  I added Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to the edges to give it a perfectly blended look. I love using this "cheater method" to achieve almost perfect results!

I stamped, coloured and fussy cut this cute snow dude and popped him up over a snowbank cut with a die I had in my stash.  The speech bubble comes from the Bujo Basics set and fit the sentiment perfectly!

You may notice the embossed lines on the card base. Well, this started out as a mistake as I accidentally scored the card base in the wrong spot. So, I went with it and scored every half inch and it turned out okay!

A few sequins and a glossy carrot nose finish off this card. I hope you found some inspiration here today and will play along with us.

Remember, up for grabs is a €25 gift certificate to the Create A Smile Stamps online shop!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

My Creative Time Final Sneak Peek Day!!

Yesterday, we showed you the new Coffee Gift Card Holder Die. But what if you have family or friends that would prefer iced lattes, iced coffees or frappacinos?  Well, this next die set is for them!  It's called the Frap Gift Card Holder Die and it's totally awesome!

We also have a new stamp set to share today as well, called Christmas Cheer! Again, I do apologize for not having the stamp set.

Just like yesterdays sneak, this one is a lot of fun to decorate!  The large heart is part of the set and is big enough to house a substantial sentiment! This one comes from the Especially For You Stamp and Die Set.

A gift card fits in nice and snug so you'll have no worries about it getting lost.  What's fun about these dies is that they will work as is, as tags, as a focal point on a card OR even as a card itself!! Stay tuned for more about that, wink, wink!

I hope you enjoyed today's sneak peek! Make sure you come back tomorrow as we have the new release blog hop!!

Create A Smile Stamps Mood Board Challenge!

Welcome back, friends!!  Today is the start of another challenge over at Create A Smile Stamps! We've got a beautiful mood board to inspire you...

I took inspiration from the wood, wreath and the colour gold.  I started by breaking out the Wreath Builder Template from Gina K Designs (a must have, in my opinion) and the Floral Decorations Stamp Set.  Before creating my wreath, I used a circle die that matched up to the largest Postage Edge Circle Die. I wanted to make sure my wreath didn't get too big!

I chose a variety of images from the stamp set and created the wreath using Icing on the Cake Ink from Catherine Pooler Designs. The sentiment comes from the Decorated Wishes Add On Stamp Set, this is one of my all time favourite stamp sets!  I used Versamark Ink and Gold Embossing Powder from WOW.  I then used the circle die (same one I used for a guide), to cut around the wreath.

To create the gold Postage Edge Circle, I simply pressed the Versamark Ink pad around the edge and added the same gold embossing powder. I did this twice to get a nice smooth finish.  I decided to add a few gold heart to my wreath using a good ol fashioned acrylic block.

I foam mounted the circle onto an ivory card base that was dry embossed using an embossing folder from Stampin' Up.  I refrained from adding any embellishments :)

Thanks for stopping in today!  I hope you'll join us for this challenge! As always, you'll be playing for a €25 gift certificate to the Create A Smile Stamps online shop!  For more details, please visit the Create A Smile Stamps Challenge Blog.

My Creative Time Sneak Peek Day Two!

Welcome back! Today we are taking a look at two new products. One awesome die set and one awesome stamp set which just so happen to be a match made in heaven!  You'll be making tons of gifts for all your coffee drinking friends with the new Coffee Gift Card Holder Die Set along with the Not a Decaf Day Stamp Set.

Unfortunately, the stamps did not arrive in time for me to play with them, so I'll just show you the fabulous die set!

This set creates the cutes GC holder but it can also be used on a card front.  I used some patterned paper to create this fun holder!

What I love about this particular set is all the attention to detail Emma adds in. Including the small steam hole and the ridges on the lid!  I only wish that coffee places offered fun cups like these!

Just imagine the fun possibilities with this die set and how much fun it will be to give coffee gift cards!

Paper Smooches November Challenge!

Hey, friends!  I wanted to drop in quickly with a card I made for the current Paper Smooches Challenge.  This challenge is especially exciting because it's also part of their new Challenge Design Team Call..yippee!!

If you're interested in entering, you can find all the details HERE!

I created a Christmas/Holiday card to add to my stash.  I used a bunch of awesome dies and hardly any stamping...the sentiment only.

I used the following PS products on this card:

Bird House Dies (for the tiny, red bird)

All the "colouring" was done with Distress Inks and either a sponge dauber or ink blending tool. Super quick and easy!

I love how this card turned and hope you do, too!

Thanks for dropping by! Have a great day and see you soon!

Sneak Peek Day One...My Creative Time!

Welcome to Day One of sneak peeks for the upcoming 97th Edition Release for My Creative Time! It's another awesome release so stay tuned!

Today, we're showing you the new addition to the Lollipop Holder dies. This cute little set is called Turkey Pop! By now, you all know that I rarely make actual lolly holders with these dies. I love the versatility of these dies and want to use them for cardmaking!

I assemble all the parts and pieces to create what is essentially, half the lolly holder.  I placed this little guy inside a frame made using the largest die from the More Stitched Rectangular Dies and a circle die from the Bunch of Fun Circles Die Set.

I used Lowercase Fun Dies for the sentiment ( I did some "stamp surgery" to one other stamp set to create the "happy" and "you" portion).  I should mention that everything was coloured with Distress Inks and a sponge dauber.

The background needed a bit of interest so I used the Grainy Wood Grain Background Stamp (which is retiring and ON SALE!) and a dark brown ink.

Of course this little guy needed some google eyes because that's just a ton of fun!

And that's the new Turkey Pop Lollipop Holder in card form!  I hope you enjoyed!

Poignant Poppies Blog Hop (ScrapNStamp Canada).

Welcome to our monthly blog hop for Scrap N Stamp Canada! Being November, we've decided to use poppies as our inspiration!

Of course, poppies are a symbol of Remembrance Day. But can be used for so much more! Think sympathy, encouragement, hello or thinking of you cards! And don't limit yourself to the colour red! Poppies come in many colours!

I used the Inspiring Poppies Stamp Set from Gina K Designs along with one of my favourite techniques. And that it using alcohol markers along with heat embossing. Now, I'm uncomfortable using my pricey markers alongside embossed images because I'm scared it will ruin the tip of the marker, so here is how I do it.

I stamped out the image using Memento Grey Flannel Ink which is an alcohol marker safe ink. I made sure to use my Misti for this and leave the stamp on the door!

I did some quick colouring. No need to be fussy when it comes to blending as all the detail will be added later!  After it was coloured, I put the panel back in the Misti, rubbed it down with an antistatic bag, inked it up with Versamark Ink and used Metallic Copper Embossing Powder from WOW.

You can see here how all the lovely details are added back in. And that gorgeous embossing powder!

I then took some time to fussy cut the image. Tedious but so worth it!!  I used a stitched frame die from Lawn Fawn and cut it from white cardstock.  I attached the floral image with some behind and some in front.

Before adhering the flowers and frame to a white card base, I used a splatter image stamp from and older MFT set and stamped the front of the card base. I used Versamark Ink and the same embossing powder. Such an easy and mess free way to get a splattered background!

I die cut the frame from craft foam as well, to give some dimension to the card.  I adhered it down then placed some foam squares underneath the flowers.

The sentiment comes from the Inspiring Poppies set as well. I used a couple of pink inks to create a soft ombre look then fussy cut around it. I adhered it down with a combo of liquid glue and foam adhesive.

I love the clean and simple look of this card but with the added punch of that metallic embossing!

Thank you so much for hopping along with us! If you would like to play along with this challenge, please visit the Scrap N Stamp Facebook Page to enter your creation!
