Flower Shaped Tags!

Hello everyone and welcome back!! I'm here to start your week off with a bit of a different project for my Studio Katia.  I decided to make some shaped tags (could be used as cards too, I suppose)!  This idea came to me as I was drifting off to sleep on Saturday night...does that happen to anyone else?  Just random craft thoughts pop into your head at any given time??

I used the large flower image from the Thank You So Much stamp set. Instead of stamping the image the right way and then colouring it, I used the back side of the side first (so instead of inking the lined image side, I inked the flat, back side of the stamp).

This is Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink spritzed about 4 times with water.  After pressing the stamp onto watercolour paper, this is the result:

When you lift the Misti door, the water and ink will pool in one spot, giving you a different look every time!  I stamped 3 more flowers using Worn Lipstick, Peacock Feathers and Spiced Marmalade.  After the images were dry, I flipped the stamp right way up.  Because the first layer is the mirror image of the actual stamp, it took some time to figure out good placement.  But because the flat side of the stamp is actually larger, the lined image fit well!

I inked of the stamp with Versamark Ink and used different embossing powders on each one.

Next, I die cut each of the flowers along with 4 pieces of ivory cardstock with the co-ordinating die.  On the ivory piece, I scored about 1/2 inch from the top and applied some Scor-Tape.  This will create the back of the tag.

This is everything adhered together:

I used a regular hole punch to make holes in the top of the flowers for some ribbon to go.  For the sentiments, I used some of the fabulous word dies that are available in the shop!  I die cut the "thank you" from the Thank You So Much Dies, and both the "hello" and " lovely" come from the new You're So Ranunculus dies.  All of these were cut out with the same ivory cardstock.

I used Multi Matte Medium to adhere the die cuts onto each tag, looped some ribbon through the holes and the tags were almost done!!  For embellishments, I used some large and small clear round dots from the Mixed Pack.  And across each sentiment, I brushed some Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle.

Once I stamped one, I had to keep going and make a few different ones!  These were really easy to make and I love the variation of colour you get using the wet stamp!!

Thank you so much for joining me today!  I hope you all have a fabulous week!!

See you soon!

Hello Friend Shaker

Happy Monday!!  I'm back to share a sweet shaker card with you today!  I really don't make a lot of shaker cards so this was a fun project!

I started by cutting down a piece of white cardstock using the rectangle die from the new Dotted Patterns Set 1.  I then embossed it using a Polka Dot embossing folder to give it a bit of texture.  To create the frame for my shaker, I took the second and third (from the middle) dies from the Dotted Ovals, taped them together and ran it through my Big shot with some grey cardstock.  I love the dotted detail you get on both the positive and negative die cuts!!

Before I filled the shaker, I stamped the word, friend, onto the embossed panel.  This comes from the And the Fox Says Stamp set.  I used a few Fruit Punch SequinsPink Lemonade Sequins and some Space Silver Sequins for my shaker bits.  I then adhered my frame (with acetate) over top.

I had a scrap of watercolored paper so I took the "hello" die from the new You're so Ranunculus Bundle and die cut it out.  This is the perfect size to adhere over the frame!!  At this point, I thought I was done, but decided it needed a cute, little critter.  So, I stamped, coloured and cut one of the cute lions from the Birthday Lions stamp set.  I foam mounted her just under the shaker element.

And, of course, I added a few more Space Silver and Fruit Punch sequins on the panel as well!!  I foam mounted the panel onto an A2 cardbase and voila!! Done!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a fabulous week!!

Studio Katia Theme Week: Red and White or Red, White and Blue!

Hello everyone and happy Monday!!  I'm here to share a couple of cards using the theme of a Red and White OR Red, White and Blue coloured project.  Of course these are very patriotic colours and pretty soon it will be Canada Day(July 1st) and Independence Day(July 4th)!  Although, my card doesn't really celebrate either one of those occasions, it is definitely a very Canadian-coloured card :)

Both of these cards were very easy to put together.  Just some simple shading with a white pencil crayon for the first card and a little bit of die cutting for the second!

For all the details and supplies used for these cards, please visit the Studio Katia Blog!!  Thank you so very much for stopping by today!!

See you soon....

Collaboration Blog Hop with Studio Katia and Newton's Nook!!

Welcome to the Summer Fun Collaboration Blog hop with Newton's Nook Designs and Studio Katia!
Both teams are celebrating the start of summer with fun and colorful cards using stamps from Newton's Nook Designs and dies and embellishments from Studio Katia. There's prizes too! Both companies have a prize to give away too so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

It is feeling a lot like summer where I live today!!  The sun is shining and the temperatures are rising!! And what better way to cool down than with a delicious ice cream treat.  For my project, I used the incredibly cute and delicious Summer Scoops stamp set.  This set is full of images that are just so fun to colour.  And because the images have nice large spaces, I thought I'd do the no-line watercolour technique.

I first stamped a few of the images in a random pattern onto a panel of watercolour paper.  I used Antique Linen Distress Ink.  I then chose some summer-y colours of my Tombow Dual Brush Markers.  I like doing watercolour with markers the best because of the control I have.  I didn't fuss around too much. Basically, I added one layer of solid colour, then went back to add a wee bit of detail.

When my colouring was complete, I used the largest die from the Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames Creative Die Set to get the dot detail on the outer frame.  I then lined up the rectangle die from the NEW Dotted Patterns Set 1 Die Set to cut out the inner portion.  I adhered the outside frame directly to my card base and used pink fun foam on the inner panel to give some dimension.

For the sentiment, I used one of the NEW Dotted Ovals Creative Dies and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black fit perfectly!  Before adhering the oval down, I put a messy piece of silver thread behind it.

And for a bit of extra sparkle and shine, I of course, used some of my favourite sequins, Crystal Rainbow Fusion!!

Now for the fun stuff...

We are giving away TWO prizes - one prize pack from Studio Katia and one $25 store credit from Newton's Nook Designs!

That dotted detail is so fantastic, love!!!  For my sentiment I chose the "hello" die from the new You're So Ranunculus (bundle, linked here) die set.  This script is so pretty and I thought the size was perfect for the stamped background!  I finished this card of with the new Frosted Hearts embellishments.

Trio of Cards!!

Hello!!  I'm back to share another project for Studio Katia!!  The weather here in Manitoba has been a bit awful.  SOOOO windy!!!  So, I spent basically the weekend in my craft room, but I'm not complaining about that!

I made three cards for today's post but before you say "THREE?!?", let me tell you how quick and super simple these are.  There is basically no colouring and no fussy cutting.  Just three stamped images, some embossing powder and some die cutting.  That actually does sound like a lot of steps but really, these cards came together quick!

I used A LOT of Studio Katia products on these cards so I hope you'll stop by the Blog for all the details!!

See you soon and thanks for popping in!!!

Studio Katia's FIRST BIRTHDAY Blog Hop!!!!

Hi All!!!  Welcome to this special blog hop in honour of Studio Katia's First Birthday!!  I am so thrilled and honoured to be a part of this amazing design team.  I have the utmost respect for Katia who does this all by herself.  She has accomplished so much in so little time with much more to come!!!

So let's get this party started, shall we??  The theme for this hop is SHAKER CARDS!!!  Shaker cards are so much fun but to be honest with you, I rarely make them.  So they are actually a challenge for me.  It takes a lot of planning on my part and I usually end up throwing the first one away :)

I started by going through my SK dies, I knew I wanted to make a shaped card.  So I picked one of my favourite sets, Stitched Creative Squares.  I die cut two of the largest square, scored one of them 3/4 inch from the top, applied Scor-Tape and adhered the two pieces together.  Next, I took the two smaller squares, nested them together on top of another piece of cardstock and ran them through my Big Shot.  This created a frame.

I immediately added my acetate to the back of the frame, applied two layers of foam tape and filled 'er up!  For my bits and bobs, I used the crazy beautiful Crystal Rainbow FusionSilver Stars Confetti, and Silver Foil Seed Beads.  I placed another die cut piece of cardstock (using the medium die) and cover the back of my shaker.

After adhering the shaker portion to my cardbase, it was time for the sentiment.  Insert mistake here:  I wanted to stamp INSIDE the shaker part.  And because everything was already put together, I knew stamping/heat embossing on the acetate was not going to work.  Plan B:  I took a "happy" die from an older My Favorite Things set and die cut it from white cardstock.  To co-ordinate with the sequins, I sponged some Jelly Bean ink from Simon Says Stamp on the sentiment.

This die is an "on the edge" die so it doesn't cut the letter right off.  I left a wide enough strip on the bottom so I could stamp the word "birthday".  Then, to get all matchy-matchy, I ran it through using the medium square die so I could get the stitching detail.  The tiny flower comes from Sunny Studio Stamps.  I sponged some Doll Pink Ink (Simon Says) onto some cardstock and cut that out and also cut it out using some teal glitter paper for the centre.  I adhered both the sentiment and flower using Multi Medium Matte adhesive.  And here it is:

This card was totally fun to make!!  You know what else is fun?? Giveaways and Discounts!!!!!
Here are all the details...

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge with Newton's Nook!

Hello everyone!!  Tonight I decided to participate in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge!! This time around it's an Anything Goes theme but they are featuring Newton's Nook Stamps.  I love Newton's Nook but I'm afraid the stamps I have are under used :(.  So this challenge was perfect!  Time to show Newton some love!!
While I adore that cat, Newton, I chose to use my all time favourite floral set.  Happy Little Thoughts is a set that has three wreath images, one that is full of flowers and the other two give you the opportunity to decorate.  There are many small images to fill the wreaths.  And the Co-ordinating Dies are fabulous!!

I ended up making tiny cards, that could be used as tags, as well.  For the base of each card/tag, I used the smallest die from the Postage Stamp Edge Dies from Simon.  I cut 4 of these and adhered them together with Scor-Tape.

The wreaths fit perfectly on these small square dies!

There was a lot of die cutting involved on these two little cards but I don't mind at all, especially when all the products are so fun to use!!

Thank you for stopping by!!  See you soon!

Floral Background Stamping with Right At Home Stamps

Hi everyone and welcome back!!  Today's post is a little bitter sweet.  I've been so lucky and honoured to be a guest designer for Nicole and Right At Home Shop.  I'm so sad that it's over :(

For my project, I decided to make a bright floral encouragement card.  I started by stamping multiple flower images from one of my all time favourite sets,  Abstract Florals. This set is amazing.  It has open images as well as solid images that can be used alone or together.

I used inks from Altenew in Spring colours.  Starting with the largest of the images and filling in the gaps with the smaller images.  Because some of these stamps are quite large, I used my Misti for this.

After the solid images were stamped, I took the matching outline stamp and used Versamark Ink and Gold Embossing Powder to add some shine!  I then used the smaller stitched die from the Find the Beauty Die Set to cut the panel out.

For the sentiment, I used the Get Stuff Done set.  This set was intended for planners but don't overlook this set if you're not into planner stamps!  It has some awesome sentiments and the font is fantastic!  I also heat embossed the sentiment and the little heart (also from the Get It Done set) in gold.  I used a cute scalloped circle die from Your Next Stamp to frame the sentiment.  I popped up the circle and the heart with foam adhesive.  And after adding some Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh, I mounted the panel onto a top fold A2 card base made from Neenah Desert Storm cardstock.

Thank you for joining me on my month long journey with Right At Home Stamps!!  I enjoyed every second of it!  And a huge thank-you to Nicole for letting me be a part of her amazing team!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Watercolouring with Hello Alice

Hi everyone and happy Monday!!  Today I'm sharing this card using one of the stamp sets from Studio Katia's  latest release!  And it's a cutey!!  The stamp set is called Hello Alice and features a little girl and her cat, among other little images!

I love how this card turned out!!  And I love this sweet stamp set!  Please stop by the blog for all the details!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!!  Wishing you a wonderful week!!

Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Hello everyone!!  I hope your week is off to a good start!  I'm back to share another card with you for Right at Home Shop.  This card combines many RAH products, including the wildly popular Script Greetings Die Set (which will be back in stock soon!).

I started by die cutting the floral images from the Find the Beauty Die Set onto some bright and cheery coloured cardstock. I then took the co-ordinating images from the Find the Beauty Stamp Set and white heat embossed them on each die cut.

I die cut the "celebrate" word, four times out of white cardstock and adhered them together using the Zig Two Way Glue Pen.  My card panel was cut from white cardstock using the smallest frame die from the Find the Beauty Die set.  I blended some Scattered Straw Distress Ink to the middle portion of the panel and did a few water flicks to create some bleaching effect.  The flowers were adhered to the panel using a combination of foam adhesive and tape runner.

I placed the celebrate over top of the flowers, placing adhesive only where the sentiment touched (also, used the Zig pen).  It really looks like the sentiment is floating.  The rest of the sentiment was stamped onto the banner die from the Folded Gift Tag Die Set in grey ink.  To make the banner a bit more dimensional, I cut one from grey cardstock as well, cut it in two and placed it behind the white banner.

To finish, I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the sentiment die cut and the flowers and added a few Radiant Pineapple Sequins.

Thank you for taking the time to visit today!!  Have a great week!!

Honey Bee Stamps Collaboration with Misti!!!!!

HELLO ALL!!!! Today, the design team from Honey Bee Stamps is having a blog hop along with My Sweet Petunia to celebrate the Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented...the MISTI!!!!

I hope you hop along with us as there are going to be fabulous projects and amazing tips on the tool.  Oh ya, and PRIZES!! Stay tuned until the end of this post for a complete list of blogs and the one rule you must follow to be eligible to win!

When the Misti first appeared on the market, I didn't think I needed one.  But after watching numerous videos of stampers using this product, I took the plunge and never looked back.  Today, I can honestly say that I CANNOT live without this tool!!

I started with the Original Misti.  I love the size of this one because it has the room for you to move your card panel or base to help place larger stamps.  Also, love it for background stamps!!
I was then lucky enough to win a Mini Misti.  This size is perfect for stamping multiple images or sentiments.  I would have to say that I use the Mini more but am so happy to have the Original!!

Apart from stamping multiple images at once, double or triple stamping and getting perfect placement, I'm going to show you four ways I use this fantastic tool.  So let's get started!!

I started by placing a 4.25 X 5.5 inch card panel into my Mini Misti.  I lined up the large border stamp from the Zen Floral stamp set a half of an inch towards the middle of the panel.

This is so easy to do because of the measurements on the Misti itself combined with the grid paper.  I stamped the image with Memento Grey Flannel Ink.  This is the first stamping;

It stamped pretty good the first time but I decided to ink it up once more for an even bolder image.

To create a border to frame my sentiment, I simply rotated the paper 180 degrees (I did not move the stamp).  This allows for perfect measurements on either side of the card panel.

I inked up the stamp, closed the door and voila!!

You can see that there is exactly the same amount of white space on either side of the panel.  Yes, this is possible to do with a block or stamp press but there is NO second guessing your placement with the Misti!!

The second tip is using solid dies.  I prefer open dies but sometimes you just don't have that luxury.  I am terrible at lining up stamps to their die cuts.  I always end up with more white space on one side. Here's how I solve this problem.  I start by cutting the die out of the cardstock I want to stamp on.  I place the negative space (the paper with the cut out, not the die cut piece itself) into the Misti.  In this case I used the "beautiful" die from the Beautiful Life Honey Cuts.

I line the Matching Stamp up in the negative space. Before placing the die cut, I ink up my stamp and do a test run right onto the grid paper.  This allows me to see if any adjustments are needed.  Now that the stamp is in the perfect place, I place the actual die cut into the negative space and stamp.  This brings us to the third tip...ombre stamping!!  Oh, how I love the look of ombre.  I chose three shades of purple for my sentiment, a light, medium and dark.  I inked up the entire word in the lightest shade.

It turned out a little splotchy but that ok because we're adding more layers!  I then used the medium shade and inked up the lower half of the stamp.  To make sure you don't get a harsh line, just dab a bit of the ink away with your finger before closing the door.  Next, add the darkest shade to only the lower bits of the stamp, dabbing away the harsh line.  You could stop there but I like to clean off the stamp and ink it up with the lightest colour again and stamp.  The blend is beautiful!  I loved it so much I stamped and ombre heart as well.

Now, its time to add some details to my panel.  I took the Zen Floral Honey Cuts and instead of cutting the floral borders out, I used the die to emboss.  After placing the die over the image, use rubber embossing mats and your embossing sandwich and run through your die cut machine.

It creates a nice subtle texture.  I trimmed my panel down to be slightly smaller than an A2 sized card base.  It's now time for the fourth tip!  I am quite awful with lining up my panels straight on the card base.  So I used the Misti to help.  I place a tiny bit of dot adhesive to the inside of the base (to keep it from popping open) and line it up in the Misti. You can see I leave a quarter of an inch on either side.

Then using the measurements and the grid paper, I can line my panel up straight!

I used foam tape to adhere the panel to the cardbase and also to mount my word die and heart.  I added a bit of colour to a few of the florals by using the same purple inks and a blender pen.

To add a little sparkle, I added a few Diamonds, Clear Wink of Stella and some Glossy Accents!!

I hope I was able to give you some ideas on how to use the Misti!  If you don't yet have one, I encourage you to try one out.  They are truly worth the investment.

Now, onto the prizes!!  Up for grabs is:
1.  Your choice of an Original Misti or a Mini Misti from the My Sweet Petunia Store
2.  $45.00 Gift Certificate to Honey Bee Stamps!!!
All you have to do is leave a little love on each blog on the hop, that's it!!  Winner of the Misti will be announced on April 7, 2017 HERE.
Winner of the Honey Bee Stamps Gift Certificate will be announced

Here's the entire hop:

Thank so much for taking the time to join us today!!  Have a great day!!
