Watercolouring The Ton Stamps with Colleen!!

Hi friends!!  Today I have a rather special post!  My friend Colleen from Maple Syrup Designs and I are teaming up to showcase stamps and dies from The Ton Stamps.  If you don't already know this, Colleen is the only Canadian retailer of this fab company!!

We will be posting twice a month using a particular company and try to incorporate a technique in there as well!!  We started this little collaboration to: a) Get some use out of products that may have not seen much love lately, b) show you some simple techniques and c) maybe introduce you to products that you have not used before!!

We are keeping this simple. We hope that you'll be inspired by something that you see here! There will be a giveaway too, so stay tuned to the end for the details!

For our first post, we decided to do some watercolouring!! I am no expert in this field and I don't watercolour for realism. I colour for fun!!  I think this is important to remember...have fun. Whatever you do will be beautiful!!

Let's take a look at what I made!!  I used the gorgeous Summer Blooms Stamp Set and heat embossed it with Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder from Ranger onto watercolour paper.

I actually embossed it 3 times to get this super puffy look!  On the third go, my paper shifted slightly and the stamping was off.  You can see this in the lower right leaf. I didn't think it was a huge deal so I just went with it!

I used an inexpensive set of Meeden pan watercolours from Amazon Canada. I usually use some sort of marker or pencils for my colouring so getting used to this type is a bit of a learning curve!

After the watercolour was done, I risked it by adding a few splatters with some diluted black paint and a Perfect Pearls mixture. Thankfully, it turned out ok!  I trimmed the panel using a stitched rectangle die and foam mounted it to a very light pink cardstock.  Note: this cardstock came from Micheals and is gorgeous! It's 110lb weight and comes in 3 shades of pink. This is the lightest of the shades and is almost a flesh tone. I'm addicted to it right now and already fear me running out!!

I partially stamped one of the sentiments from the set onto a tiny strip and heat embossed it using the same powder.  I strategically adhered it over a boo-boo:)

A few clear sequins finish this card!!!

Thank you for joining us today.  Remember, our only wish is for you to hopefully get inspired!! I did link products to her shop but please note that these are NOT affiliate links. I just want to let you know that she has a beautiful shop with amazing customer service and carries some awesome products!!

GIVEAWAY ALERT:  Colleen is generously giving away a prize in honour of our little collaboration!  She will be giving away the Large Peony 5 stamp set and co-ordinating dies...WOW!! All you have to do is leave a little love on each of our posts and you'll be entered to win!
The winner will be announced on April 23rd. This will also be our next blog post:)!

Please visit her blog HERE!! Also, if you are on Instagram, check out the hashtag #maplesyrupmonday. Even better, if you make a project with todays theme, show us! We'd love to see  it AND it will also give you an extra chance to win :)

Until next time, my friends...stay crafty!
