Newton's Nook Ink Paw Challenge #207

Hello and welcome back! This week I made a card to enter into the latest challenge from Newton's Nook! I've always been a huge fan of their stamps and dies and decided to use a couple of my favourites. The theme for this challenge is SKETCH. Sketch challenges always gets my creative juices flowing.

Here's my take on this...

I used one of my all-time favourite fall themed stamp sets:  Pumpkin Latte along with its co-ordinating dies. My colouring medium of choice was watercolour pencils which I've been using A LOT lately!

To create the striped panel, I simply used the same colour of pencils that I used on the images to draw 1/2 inch lines on the paper. Then blended it out with water. These particular pencil are permanent when dry to there was no worry on the colours bleeding.

To add some texture to the striped panel, I used the Falling Leaves Stencil along with some white embossing paste. Subtle yet lovely!

I used a border die to create a panel behind the striped piece to add a bit more interest and used foam tape to adhere it to the card base.

I stamped the sentiment on the oval die cut leaving enough room to foam mount the girl. I tucked that cute, pink pumpkin behind her.

I LOVE how this card turned out! Not your traditional fall colours but I think the season is well represented :)!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day and see you soon!

Collaboration Blog Hop with Studio Katia and Newton's Nook!!

Welcome to the Summer Fun Collaboration Blog hop with Newton's Nook Designs and Studio Katia!
Both teams are celebrating the start of summer with fun and colorful cards using stamps from Newton's Nook Designs and dies and embellishments from Studio Katia. There's prizes too! Both companies have a prize to give away too so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

It is feeling a lot like summer where I live today!!  The sun is shining and the temperatures are rising!! And what better way to cool down than with a delicious ice cream treat.  For my project, I used the incredibly cute and delicious Summer Scoops stamp set.  This set is full of images that are just so fun to colour.  And because the images have nice large spaces, I thought I'd do the no-line watercolour technique.

I first stamped a few of the images in a random pattern onto a panel of watercolour paper.  I used Antique Linen Distress Ink.  I then chose some summer-y colours of my Tombow Dual Brush Markers.  I like doing watercolour with markers the best because of the control I have.  I didn't fuss around too much. Basically, I added one layer of solid colour, then went back to add a wee bit of detail.

When my colouring was complete, I used the largest die from the Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames Creative Die Set to get the dot detail on the outer frame.  I then lined up the rectangle die from the NEW Dotted Patterns Set 1 Die Set to cut out the inner portion.  I adhered the outside frame directly to my card base and used pink fun foam on the inner panel to give some dimension.

For the sentiment, I used one of the NEW Dotted Ovals Creative Dies and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink...it fit perfectly!  Before adhering the oval down, I put a messy piece of silver thread behind it.

And for a bit of extra sparkle and shine, I of course, used some of my favourite sequins, Crystal Rainbow Fusion!!

Now for the fun stuff...

We are giving away TWO prizes - one prize pack from Studio Katia and one $25 store credit from Newton's Nook Designs!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge with Newton's Nook!

Hello everyone!!  Tonight I decided to participate in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge!! This time around it's an Anything Goes theme but they are featuring Newton's Nook Stamps.  I love Newton's Nook but I'm afraid the stamps I have are under used :(.  So this challenge was perfect!  Time to show Newton some love!!
While I adore that cat, Newton, I chose to use my all time favourite floral set.  Happy Little Thoughts is a set that has three wreath images, one that is full of flowers and the other two give you the opportunity to decorate.  There are many small images to fill the wreaths.  And the Co-ordinating Dies are fabulous!!

I ended up making tiny cards, that could be used as tags, as well.  For the base of each card/tag, I used the smallest die from the Postage Stamp Edge Dies from Simon.  I cut 4 of these and adhered them together with Scor-Tape.

The wreaths fit perfectly on these small square dies!

There was a lot of die cutting involved on these two little cards but I don't mind at all, especially when all the products are so fun to use!!

Thank you for stopping by!!  See you soon!
