Newton's Nook Ink Paw Challenge #207

Hello and welcome back! This week I made a card to enter into the latest challenge from Newton's Nook! I've always been a huge fan of their stamps and dies and decided to use a couple of my favourites. The theme for this challenge is SKETCH. Sketch challenges always gets my creative juices flowing.

Here's my take on this...

I used one of my all-time favourite fall themed stamp sets:  Pumpkin Latte along with its co-ordinating dies. My colouring medium of choice was watercolour pencils which I've been using A LOT lately!

To create the striped panel, I simply used the same colour of pencils that I used on the images to draw 1/2 inch lines on the paper. Then blended it out with water. These particular pencil are permanent when dry to there was no worry on the colours bleeding.

To add some texture to the striped panel, I used the Falling Leaves Stencil along with some white embossing paste. Subtle yet lovely!

I used a border die to create a panel behind the striped piece to add a bit more interest and used foam tape to adhere it to the card base.

I stamped the sentiment on the oval die cut leaving enough room to foam mount the girl. I tucked that cute, pink pumpkin behind her.

I LOVE how this card turned out! Not your traditional fall colours but I think the season is well represented :)!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day and see you soon!

Mood Board Challenge with Create A Smile Stamps!

Welcome back for another challenge over on the Create A Smile Stamps Challenge Blog!  We have a gorgeous new mood board to give you some fall inspiration!!

Full of fall themed colours and images, this board should definitely get you in the Fall spirit!  Unfortunately, in my neck of the woods, we skipped that season and as I write up this post it is snowing and blowing :(.

I used the Floral Decorations Stamp Set along with some fall colours to create my card today.  I blew the dust off my Derwent Inktense Pencils for the colouring.  I forgot how much fun those things were!  I decided to heat emboss all the images with Copper Metallic Embossing Powder from WOW. I love this colour!!

After the colouring was complete, I trimmed the panel down, then used a scalloped edge die to give a pretty scalloped edge.  I cut the You Twice Die out of the same cardstock as my card base and added a coat of clear embossing powder over the top. I love how it changed the shade of the kraft and gave it some super, shiny dimension!  The small sentiment comes from the All About You Stamp Set and was heat embossed in the Metallic Copper.

Before adhering the panel, I decided to clear heat emboss some of the images from the Floral Decorations set directly onto the card base...it just looked a little too plain.

I used a heart die set to cut 3 tiny hearts out of the kraft cardstock and used the clear EP on those as well.

I hope you found a little inspiration here today and I really hope you'll join us for the challenge!  We LOVE seeing what you create!  And remember, there's a €25 gift certificate the the Create A Smile Stamps online store up for grabs!!

Thanks for dropping by today!  See you again!

Happy Fall Foxes!!

Hello everyone and welcome back!!  Well, it's undeniable, fall is in the air.  As I looked outside this morning, there are a few leaves on the ground.  I love fall, I just don't like what's coming next :(.

For today's card, I thought I'd use the change of season for inspiration.  This card has absolutely no colouring on it, just stamping and coloured cardstock.  I used one of the super cute fox images from the Foxes Stamp Set and used a couple of brown shades of ink to give it some shading.  Of course, I used my Misti for this!  I stamped the whole image in a light brown ink, stamped then inked only the lower portion in a darker brown and stamped again.  This gives a really pretty effect.  I also stamped the tree trunk and leaves from the same set onto different colours of cardstock. I die cut everything using the co-ordinating dies.

To create my little scene, I did a light wash of watercolour onto a scrap of watercolour cardstock.  Using the centre of the rounded edge label die from the Dotted Patterns Set 1, I gave that strip a really cute edge!!  I used the same die to cut a piece of brown polka-dotted paper and layered the two pieces together.  I adhered all my little bits and pieces to the watercolored piece and the scene was complete!

I was just going to adhere my little label onto an ivory card base but decided it needed just a little extra something.  So, I die cut the rectangle die from the Dotted Patterns Set 1 out of ivory cardstock. I adore all that dotted detail!!  The sentiment come from the Happy Stamp Set which I stamped in a mid-tone brown ink.

To finish off, I used a few sequins from the Autumn Fusion Sequin pack.

Thank you for stopping by today!! Have a great day!!
