A Striped Hello!

Hello, all!! Happy Monday and to my American friends, Happy Memorial Day!!  Today I'm sharing a card made using supplies from the latest release!!  I hope you joined in the super fun blog hop celebrating this release but in case you didn't, it starts HERE!!  There is still time for you to comment on each blog for a chance to win some fantastic prizes!!!

I just had to use the new Brushstrokes Stamp Set.  This set gives you the look of watercolour brush strokes by just using ink!!!  I started by cutting a piece of white cardstock using the rectangle die from the the new Dotted Patterns Set 1 Creative Dies.  This set is my new favourite!!  It coordinates perfectly with the previously released Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames Creative Die Set (in fact I used the two sets together on this card!)

That dotted detail is so fantastic, love!!!  For my sentiment I chose the "hello" die from the new You're So Ranunculus (bundle, linked here) die set.  This script is so pretty and I thought the size was perfect for the stamped background!  I finished this card of with the new Frosted Hearts embellishments.

Thank You Card

Hello everyone, and welcome back!! I have a sweet and simple thank you card to share with you for Studio Katia!!

I always start by gathering up all the stamps and dies I think I will use:

I knew I wanted to use the Stitched Notebook Set, that you can see already die cut on the bottom right.  And I also knew I wanted to use the Teacher's Apple stamp set, especially for the pencil image!!

For the sentiment, I chose to use the super sweet Mini Thank You set.  FYI: this is a free with purchase stamp right now but will be available for sale in March!!

I used my Winsor and Newton Promarkers to colour the pencil.  In this case, I wanted it to look more like a pen so I coloured the "eraser" portion the same as the body.  Because I am using a light blue base, I added a bit of colour to the strip across the top.

Now here is where I got fancy!!  Embossing paste!! What??!!  I never use this stuff, and I'm not sure why!  I used a diagonal stripe stencil and applied the paste over top, in a messy way.  And because the layer was thin, it dried super fast!!

To finish things off, I added a ink blob just below the thank you using the awesome Brush Strokes stamp set.  I tied a very thin piece of thread around the top of the notebook die and adhered the "pen" so it looked like it wrote the sentiment.  I also added some sequins from the Crystal Clear Sequin Fusion mix.

Rainbow Hello

Welcome back!!  Today I'm sharing a card I made for Studio Katia!!  I know winter has officially just begun and its not quite Christmas but I'm ready to put my Winter/Christmas supplies away.  I'm ready for florals and bright colors!!  So I did just that!!

I picked out some fun, cheerful colors and used the skinniest brushstroke from the Brushstrokes stamp set.  I used my Misti for this as I knew I would be double stamping.  I did remove the stamp each time because I wanted and imperfect, random look.  I then used the largest die from the Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames Die Set.  I love the dot detail these dies give.

After the stamping was done, I had a hard time deciding on the sentiment.  I first heat embossed in white the "hello" word from the Duo Talk set on a scrap piece of black cardstock.

I liked it but thought it needed just a bit more...so I die cut one of the speech bubbles from the Stitched Duo Speech Bubbles from white cardstock.

Now this I thought was just too stark and covered up too much of the happy background.  I ended up die cutting the same speech bubble directly from the panel...this always makes me nervous:)  I also die cut it from a piece of white fun foam to add dimension.

The dimension of the inlaid speech bubble adds interest to an otherwise simple card.  To finish it off, I added a generous layer of glitter pen over all the brushstrokes and added some Jet Black Sequins in various sizes (this is a fusion mix).
