Manly Monday with My Creative Time!

Hello crafty friends and welcome back!  It's all about creating masculine cards today. I don't know about you but this is no easy task for me.

I tend to use a lot more die cutting on a masculine card versus stamping and colouring images.  I'm not sure why but I like a more graphic design when it comes to "boy" cards.

I went through my stash of MCT dies and picked out three sets for this card. This first set is the 3 Star Stitched Dies.  Simple shape but the size of these dies is perfect!  I dug through my scrap cardstock bin and picked out a grey, an orange, a yellow and a blue.  I cut about 2 of each size die.

I took an A2 white card base and tried to randomly piece them together.

I used this photo to help me remember placement!  I decided to adhere the stars onto a layer that was cut at 5.25 X 4.  This helped to "squeeze" the stars closer together.  After they were all glued down, I trimmed the excess off.

I know I've said this before but I will say it again. Everyone needs a good set of alphabet dies (or two, or three) in their stash.  They come in super handy especially when creating a sentiment for a boy/man.  There are tons of feminine or girly sentiments out there but some of these just won't work here.  I used both the Lowercase Fun Dies as well as the Uppercase Fun Dies to make the word "Hey".  This is a fabulous font for both masculine as well as feminine cards!

I die cut the letters out of craft foam as well to give them quite a bit of dimension.  The "birthday boy" sentiment comes from the Sweet Wishes Stamp and Dies Set and fits perfectly under the die cut word!!

I added a bit of glitter pen to the "Hey" and added the star panel directly onto the card base.  The most time consuming part of this card was trying not to get two stars of the same colour close together!!

Thank you so much for dropping by today!!

Until next time...stay crafty!!

Dimensional Window Card

Hi friends and welcome to another post featuring My Creative Time products!  I have very dimension window card to share with you. This is really easy to make and I hope my photos will help if you want to recreate this card.

I started by white heat embossing the Grainy Wood Background Stamp onto some Bristol paper. I decided to do a bit of loose watercolour but I didn't want the texture of a watercolour paper.

I chose three colours of Distress Oxide Inks: Broken China, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio. I did a wet on dry technique because the Bristol paper can only handle so much water. I basically just slapped some colour down with no rhyme or reason, haha!

I trimmed around the stamped image. The measurements are are just shy of 3.25inches and 5.25 inches. This will be the size of my finished card, as well!  Before cutting the "window" in this panel, I adhered some craft foam to the back. By doing this step first, you can be sure all the openings will line up. I chose one of the circle dies from the Bunch of Fun Circles Die Set.

It was no problem for my Big Shot to cut this. Next, it's time to cut the window in the card base itself.      I simply lined up the painted panel to the card base and traced around the cut out circle. REMEMBER: I cut the card base to fit the background panel!

Make sure your card base is open when you die cut this circle :)!  Now all you have to do is adhere the pretty front panel to the base!

For the sentiment, I used the Lower Case Fun Dies dies to spell out "hi". I cut these out of the positive we had left over from the watercolored panel. This already had craft foam on the back so that step is done!!

I glued the letters on the inside of the card so they were seen through the circle window. The dimension of everything looks awesome!!

The word "friend" comes from the Light the Candles Stamp and Die Set and was stamped in the Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink.  Because my placement of the sentiment was slightly "off", I die cut all three leaves from the Stitched Leaves Dies and coloured them Crushed Olive and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Inks. I also added a spritz of shimmer spray to them (mixture of Perfect Pearls and water).

I LOVE all the dimension on this card!!

Another great part of this design is that I have the positive circle with the negative space of the letters for another card!!!

Thank you so much for dropping by today, much appreciated!!

Stay Crafty and See You Soon!!!

Manly Monday with My Creative Time

Hello and welcome back! Yay, it's Monday...said no one ever!  How about we kick off the week with a masculine card?

I struggle with masculine cards but luckily MCT has stamps and dies for everyone and every occasion!  I firmly believe that everyone should have at least one alphabet die set in their stash.  They are super useful and versatile. From creating your own sentiments, easily personalizing a project or creating interesting backgrounds, they are a must!

I used the Lowercase Fun Dies on my project today.  I love the clean and simple typewriter font of these dies.

I used kraft cardstock today but to give the letters a little something extra, I used the Grainy Wood Background Stamp before die cutting.  Gives a more "manly feel", doesn't it :)?  I also cut 3 each of the letters to give a lot of dimension.

The cute little fox, leaves and sentiment come from the Fall Friends Stamp and Die set. I added the sentiment onto the smallest of the Stitched Decorative Banner Dies in an ink that kind of matched the cardstock.

Because I had die cut many layers and stacked them together, no foam adhesive was necessary.  I glued everything to the second largest die in the Scalloped Stitched Rectangular Die Set which I embossed using an embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers.

A few matte brown enamel dots finish the card!!

Thank you popping in today, I really appreciate it!!  I hope you enjoyed my cute masculine card :)

Until next time...stay crafty!
