New Create A Smile Challenge!!

Welcome back! It's the beginning of September, can you believe it?? Where is this year going and why is it in such a hurry?  I say that every fall because I cannot stand winter. Especially, the Canadian Prairies winters. I've lived her all my life and I still can't get used to them!  But enough rambling about the changing seasons...it's time for another CAS Challenge and this week we have a sketch!

It's a clean and simple design that you can make not so clean and simple if you'd like!  I followed the design pretty much to a tee this time.

To create the hexagon shapes, I used the Hexagon Web Stencil. This is a very cool stencil! I chose the size of the hexagon and then took a brush with a little paint on it and lightly traced the shape.  I carefully removed the stencil and filled in the entire hexagon.  I did two layers of watercolour to get the hard edges that I love so much and repeated 3 times.

To jazz it up a bit, I used some gold paint thinned out with water and added a generous amount of splatter!

I decided to do some rough outlines with a black pen on the inner portion of each hexagon. This defined the shape a bit more.  I took the "hey" sentiment from the Decorated Wishes Add On Set and used Versaclair Ink in Nocturne. To make the sentiment stand out a bit more, I added a bit of a drop shadow with a white gel pen.  I cut down the panel using a stitched rectangle die and foam mounted it onto a grey, A2, top fold card base.

And that's my take on the sketch!!

Please link up your fab creations on the Create A Smile Stamps Challenge Blog. We love seeing what you create and how the theme inspires you! Remember, you're playing along for a chance to win a €25 gift certificate to the Create A Smile Stamps Shop!!

Thank for dropping by! See you soon!

Paper Sweeties Birthday Blog Hop!!!

Hello, friends! Welcome to a very special blog hop where Pink & Main is teaming up with Paper Sweeties to celebrate their 7th Birthday!!

I don't make many shaker cards but when I saw the awesome little package of Cupcake Sprinkles, I knew this was my only option, haha!!

To create the shaker window, I used the second largest Cloudy Frames Dies and die cut it in the centre of a white panel cut with the largest die in the Stitched Rectangles Set 2 dies. After gluing the acetate to the back side of the panel, I adhered the frame portion on top.  I did add 2 layers of foam tape behind the window as these sequins are a bit thick.

I used the beautiful "congrats" sweet cuts from Paper Sweeties, which I coloured with alcohol markers to give an ombre effect.  I used a few images from the Bee Happy Stamp Set from Pink & Main. I coloured them with alcohol markers, as well, and used the co-ordinating dies to cut them out.

Before putting my shaker element onto the card base, I stamped a sub sentiment from the brand new Going Places Stamp Set from P&M. I think this sentiment is awesome! This card can be given for pretty much any occasion where a congrats are in order!

I foam mounted all the bees, glued the congrats die cut down and added the shaker to a white A2 card base.  A few touches of glitter pen and this card is done!

Thank you for hopping along with us today! Now, what's up for grabs??!!

Pink & Main is giving away 1 (one) $25 Surprise Pack! My Creative Time 94th Edition Release Blog Hop and Sale!!

Yay!!! It's blog hop day for the newest release from My Creative Time!! You've likely arrived from Miss Kendra's blog who, I have no doubt, blew you away!!

Yesterday, we showed you the new Skull Treat Box Die Set and I told you I was going to show you another way to use it!  Emma's treat box dies are cleverly designed as you aren't committed to only making treat boxes with them.  Today, I took that die set and made a card!

Because this die set actually does creep me out a bit (haha), I thought by adding some touches of pink it would be a little less creepy. What do you think?!

I used the witches hat die from the Halloween Fun Stamp and Die Set to dress up my skull a bit more! And of course a pink, glittery eye patch and gold tooth!!!  To create a bit of interest on the background, I used the Zig Zag Background Die...love this die!!

I popped that cutie up with foam adhesive and added the sentiment. The sentiment also comes from the Halloween Fun Stamps and Dies and was stamped onto the FREEBIE Halloween Fun Tags!

I think that sentiment is hilarious and fits this girly skull perfectly!!  That's my project for today. I really hope you enjoyed the week of peeks and of course, this blog hop!!

Thanks so much for joining me this week. I've had a ton of fun creating with these new products and think you will too!!

The next stop on the hop is the super talented: Miss Ruthie!!

Mood Board Challenge with Create a Smile Stamps

Hi everyone and welcome back! It's that time where we introduce you to a new challenge over at Create A Smile Stamps! This two week challenge is a...Mood Board!

The inspiration for my project came from the lower right image along with the colours.

I used the Petals Stencil along with Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks to create the background. It may be hard to tell but there is two layers of ink. I inked Tumbled Glass first, shifted the stencil slightly then used the Peacock Feathers Ink. I then cut the panel down using the 2nd largest Scalloped Rectangle Die.

I coloured up that adorable ice cream cone from the A Little Treat Stamp Set and fussy cut it out. To bring in a bit more yellow, I die cut the centre of the ink blended panel with the Focal Die. I quickly added some yellow ink to a scrap piece of paper to layer behind.

I foam mounted the ice cream onto the die cut panel, foam mounted the panel to a white card base and added the sentiment, which is also from the A Little Treat set.

I hope you'll join us!! Remember there's a €25 gift certificate up for grabs!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sneak Peek Day Three for My Creative Time!!

So, today I'm bringing you something a little different! Well, not really different, more like getting more bang for your buck when it comes to seasonal dies!

This die set is my favourite item from this release. The Spooky Tree Tag Die is, in fact, spooky! But I wanted to show you a way to use this for more than Halloween cards.

I used this die to make a Christmas card!! Whaaat??!! This set comes with the tree image itself as well as a background portion.  By inking up the background in a soft, blue colour and cutting the tree out of sparkly, white cardstock, you get an instant winter feel!

I layered the tree die several times to get some dimension and before adhering it down to the blue base, I added tiny dots with a white gel pen to create "snow".  I went through my stash of dies, and found a small star which I die cut using the same white glitter paper.

I adhered it onto a panel that was embossed with a SU embossing folder.  I stamped a sentiment from the Christmas Wishes Stamp Set and fussy cut around the word "joy" and adhered that to the bottom of the tree.  I love how this card turned out!!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you found some inspiration here today!  See you again, tomorrow!!

My Creative Time 94th Edition Sneak Day Two!

Are you ready for another peek into this month's release from My Creative Time??! Today we're showcasing the FREEBIE dies!  These dies are free to the first 25 shoppers so you'll want to shop early!!

This set of dies co-ordinates with the Halloween Fun stamps and dies we showed you yesterday.  These little labels are made to fit the sentiments from the set. And have a really cool stitched edge and shape!

I decided to make a shaker card today using both ghost dies from the Halloween Fun dies.  I think it's super cute how it looks like the ghost in the middle is holding a sign!! Isn't the shape of these little dies awesome?

And remember that speckled stamp I mentioned yesterday? I used that again today to add just a little something to the background!!

Are you getting excited for this release yet?  Thanks so much for dropping in! Please visit again tomorrow for another amazing sneak peek!!
