Christmas in July with Scrap N Stamp!!

Hello and welcome to the Scrap N Stamp Canada "Christmas is July Blog Hop"! You have arrived from the super talented Kia

The Christmas in July theme is always fun. It breaks up the spring and summer crafting nicely and lets you dig through your holiday -making stash!

I mixed and matched three different brands for my project today, something which I love to do.

I used the Christmastime die set from Tim Holtz/Sizzix. This is quite a simple die set yet is just beautiful. I chose to cut everything from white cardstock and use a variety of Distress Inks to add the colour. I then glued all the pieces together to create one solid image.

To easily create the background, I started with a piece of light blue cardstock. I simply inked around it using Broken China, then Chipped Sapphire and finally Black Soot Distress Inks. By starting off with the light blue cardstock, it cuts down on the blending time!  I then mixed a bit of white acrylic paint with water and used a paintbrush to splatter. I made sure to go over the couple and the trees to create continuity.

Now, speaking of the trees! I used the beautiful Layered Narrow Pines die set from Memory Box. This set pairs beautifully with the Christmastime die set.  I did the same technique by using Distress Inks to add colour. I used Rustic Wilderness and Peeled Paint.

I used a stitched rectangle die to trim down the background panel. I used the Stitched Hillside Borders from Lawn Fawn to create the snow bank.

I foam mounted the "snow" to allow for a couple of the trees to be tucked behind. This meant that the cute couple needed some foam adhesive as well.  This is where I realized I hadn't stamped the sentiment...do you ever do that??

Luckily, it worked out okay! I heat embossed the sentiment in white. The "Warm Winter Wishes" comes from the super sweet Stay Cozy Stamp Set from Aall & Create.

The entire panel was foam mounted onto a top-fold, A2 white card base.  To finish off, I added some white, pearlescent pearls.

And that's my finished card! I hope you like it. It was A LOT of fun to make!

Now, onto the fun stuff...

For a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the Scrap N Stamp online shop, all you have to do is leave a comment on each stop of the hop! This hop is full of gorgeous, Christmas inspiration so it should be very easy to leave a nice comment!

The winner will be announced on the SNS Blog on July 25, 2023.

Thank you so much for hopping along! Good luck!

Up next is the wonderful Mari...enjoy!

SNS White Christmas Blog Hop ft. Lawn Fawn!

It's time for our last Scrap N Stamp Blog Hop for 2019!! Wasn't it just July a couple of weeks ago?!

We have a fun and easy theme for you this time around...White Christmas!  The focus is to create a mostly white project. I love the white on white look with a little pop of colour. This can give a fun or elegant look. I went with a cute and fun card!

The star of the card is that adorable narwhal!  He's from the mini set, Winter Narwhal, from Lawn Fawn. I coloured him up with a combination of Copic markers: C3, C2, C1 and the colourless blender. This gave just a hint of grey. For my pop of colour, I coloured up his scarf in green. My favourite combination is: G07, YG25 and YG03.

The background was created by cutting one circle out of white cardstock, then running it through with the Polka Heart Background. I then cut a white piece of cardstock using the second largest Fancy Scalloped Circle Dies (Lawn Fawn).  Before adhering the two circle together, I used a light blue ink on the scalloped circle. This is faint, but shows through in a few areas.

I fussy cut the narwhal and foam mounted him onto the heart panel.  Then sentiment comes from the Winter Wavy Sayings Stamp set and was stamped onto one of the Simple Wavy Banners dies, which I also popped up.

I decided to use a few of the die cut hearts, colour them in the same shades of green and inlay them back into the heart background. This added a bit more colour and acted as embellishments!  I added some Nuvo Shimmer Pen to the scarf, the hearts and his horn then a layer of Nuvo Crystal Glaze to give a lot of shine!

We can't wait to see what you create so make sure to upload your creations to the Scrap N Stamp Challenge FB Page!!

Paper Smooches November Challenge!

Hey, friends!  I wanted to drop in quickly with a card I made for the current Paper Smooches Challenge.  This challenge is especially exciting because it's also part of their new Challenge Design Team Call..yippee!!

If you're interested in entering, you can find all the details HERE!

I created a Christmas/Holiday card to add to my stash.  I used a bunch of awesome dies and hardly any stamping...the sentiment only.

I used the following PS products on this card:

Bird House Dies (for the tiny, red bird)

All the "colouring" was done with Distress Inks and either a sponge dauber or ink blending tool. Super quick and easy!

I love how this card turned and hope you do, too!

Thanks for dropping by! Have a great day and see you soon!

My Creative Time Sneak Day Three!!

Aaand, we're back with another sneak peek for the upcoming 96th Edition Release for My Creative Time!

Today, we are showing you TWO new products. One, of which is the FREEBIE for this month!  The two work perfectly together so I combined both on my card.  First, is the Big Santa Dies. This set is awesome!! Second, is the HoHoHo Die (freebie).

The Big Santa Dies cut out the moustache, beard, hat along with separate dies to create the fuzzy parts of the hat. So. Much. Fun!!

I added some textured embossing powder on the white parts of the hat to create that fuzzy look.  I added some flicks of marker to the beard and moustache.  I foam mounted all the pieces onto a piece of cardstock cut with the second largest XOXO Border Dies.

I cut the HoHoHo Die out of red cardstock, which unfortunately was a different shade than the hat :(. This die does have a snowflake attached to it but I decided to trim it off.  I adhered it directly to the card.  I adhered the focal panel onto a card base that was embossed with a striped embossing folder.

A few sequins finish this card off!  I hope you enjoyed super fun sneak peek!! Tomorrow is our last days of peeks and you won't want to miss it.

**Sneak Peek Giveaway**

We will be giving away the sets we are showcasing each day to ONE lucky winner!! All That Sparkles Blog Hop (Scrap N' Stamp Canada)

Hello friends and welcome to the All That Sparkles Blog Hop for Scrap N' Stamp Canada!!  It's all about glitter, shine and sparkle...some of my favourite things!!

I recently ordered some loose glitter from the shop and tried something new (to me, anyway).  I have a love/hate relationship with loose glitter. Love the sparkle, hate the mess.  To remedy the mess, I decided to use embossing paste to keep the glitter in check.

For my first "glitter mix", I used a white embossing paste and the Olive Green glitter from the Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter in the Jingle Bells Mix. I have to say that this glitter is super fine and beautiful!

I added a bit more glitter than in the photo above to create this consistency...

For the next mixture, I used a Translucent Texture Paste and the Silver Glitter from the Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter Let It Snow Glitter Pack.

I used the Pines Stencil from Tim Holtz and applied my glitter embossing paste to white cardstock that was die cut with the second largest die from the Fancy Scalloped Rectangles Dies from Lawn Fawn.

Look at that shine and dimension!!  I prefer using the translucent paste. It might be because I didn't add enough green glitter to the white paste, I could see white showing through.  None the less, still very pretty!!

I did make a third mix using the Translucent Texture Paste and a combination of white and silver glitter, both from the Let It Snow Glitter Pack.  I used the Snow Flurry Stencil for this mix.

All that was left to do was put these panels on cards and add sentiments.  For the green embossed trees, I used an ivory card base that was cut to 5 X 3.5 inches.  I used a sentiment from the SnowGlobe Sentiments stamp from MFT and used a banner die to cut it out.

I wanted to keep these cards fairly simple and let the glitter be the star of the show.

My next card uses the snowfall background panel and a couple of tree dies from the Fresh Pine Tree  Trio Die from Memory Box. This is where things got a little messy.  I die cut the trees out of white cardstock which was covered on one side with Stick-It Adhesive.  After exposing the adhesive, I poured silver glitter on one tree, and green on the other.  But, I found that even after burnishing in the glitter, it still wanted to come off.

Because there is nothing more annoying then glitter falling off a card, I decided to add a layer of clear embossing powder over top.  This sealed the glitter perfectly and also added another level of shine! I used the same Snowglobe Sentiment set and banner die to finish this card!

My final card, and probably my favourite is this one..

I love the translucent paste with the silver glitter. It definitely has the most shine!  For the sentiment I used the Be Merry die from the Tis the Season Dies from Penny Black.  I used cardstock with the Stick-It Adhesive again, but instead of clear embossing, I used the Nuvo Crystal Glaze over top. This worked beautifully to keep the glitter contained and added some awesome, shiny dimension.

Here's a look at all three projects.,

In real life, they all shine beautifully!!

I hope I gave you some inspiration on how to use loose glitter.  Even though I had glitter almost everywhere, I had so much fun making these cards:)

Now, onto the fun stuff!!  Scrap N' Stamp Canada is giving away FIVE Sparkly Surprise Packages and ONE $25 gift certificate to the shop. Today, we are featuring quick and easy cards! Quick and easy doesn't have to mean plain or boring. Sometimes the quickest creations can turn out to be one of your best!! I decided to do a watercolour background along with a custom sentiment using alphabet dies.

This card measures approximately 5 X 3.5 inches. Only because that was the size of my watercolour paper! I quickly laid down some watercolour paint in blues and greens. As that was drying, I die cut all the letters I needed to spell "Fa la la" out of white cardstock as well as white craft foam. I used both the Lowercase Fun Dies and Upper Case Fun Dies. l used liquid glue to adhere them together. After the paint was dry, I decided to add some gold splatters using gold Perfect Pearls mixed with a bit of water.

To bring in more of the gold, I heat embossed a sentiment from the Christmas Wishes Stamp Set and fussy cut around it. The watercolour panel was glued directly to the card base. The letters were adhered with liquid glue while the fussy cut sentiment was popped up on a small piece of craft foam...I wanted to keep the heights even!

The card was truly easy and quick to make, not to mention FUN!! I hope you found a little inspiration here today!!

***GIVEAWAY***   Don’t forget to leave your comments on all of our blogs for a chance to win a $15 gift card to the My Creative Time store!

Challenge #213 for Cas-ual Fridays!!

Hello and welcome to another challenge for Cas-ual Fridays Stamps!!  This challenge asks that you use shades of gold on your project!

With the holidays fast approaching, gold is always a favourite colour to create with!  I kept my card fairly clean and simple, using only one stamp set.

I had some gold, shimmery paint in my stash that I have never used so this was the perfect opportunity. To create the striped background, I painted all over a piece of cardstock and trimmed strips from it.  I didn't measure or keep the strips even in size.  I also went for a random look when adhering the strips to the panel.

The snowflakes and sentiment are from the Snowy Sayings stamp set.  I wanted to incorporate a touch of black into this card, so I used Versafine Onxy Black ink for the sentiment.  The snowflakes were heat embossed with Metallic Copper Embossing powder from WOW!.  This is actually my favourite colour of embossing powder at the moment!

I fussy cut each snowflake and also directly stamped and embossed a few small flakes onto the card front. The snowflakes were adhered using foam adhesive.

And that's my take on the "Shades of Gold" Challenge!!  Now here's how to enter and what you're playing for:

What are your playing for? 10 winning entries will be highlighted on this blog each Thursday before a new challenge is set to go live the next day.  In addition, Michele has generously offered up a $25 gift certificate to the overall winner at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. And if that weren't enough, if the chosen winner has used CAS-ual Fridays stamps and/or dies as the main focus in the card, that gift certificate will increase to $50.

Please link up your creation to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Blog!! Have fun and I cannot wait to see what you create!!

My Creative Time 85th Edition Release Sneak Peek Day Three!!

It's the final day of sneaks for the upcoming 85th Edition Release for My Creative Time!

We are showcasing a beautiful Christmas sentiment stamp set for you today.  This set is full of beautiful sentiments perfect for all your Christmas cards!

And because they are all so beautiful, I had a hard time on choosing just one. So, I used them all!!

I arranged all the stamps on a card panel and picked them up with my Misti door.  It didn't quite cover the entire panel so after stamping the first time, I only had to rearrange a few and restamp.  Before rearranging the stamps, I stamped it once onto a separate piece of cardstock in a bright green ink and used a circle die to cut it out.

I layered the green stamped piece onto the largest Doily Die and lined it up with the black stamping.  I popped this piece up with foam adhesive.  This is a version of the spotlight stamping technique.

What a great way to use an entire stamp set and create your own patterned paper!  And isn't that font beautiful?

I hope you've enjoyed all the sneaks this week!  Remember, our blog hop is tomorrow which will be filled with inspiration using these new products!!

***Sneak Peek giveaway!***
We will be giving away the sets we are showcasing each day to ONE lucky winner! Pink & Main and WOW Embossing Powders Blog Hop!!!

Hello crafty friends and welcome back!! Today is an exciting day as Pink & Main has teamed up with Wow Embossing Powders for a fabulous blog hop!!  This hop is jam packed with amazing inspiration from a ton of incredible designers so sit back, relax and enjoy the hop!!  If you arrived from the wonderful Kimberly's Blog, you are on the right track! If not, you can click here for the beginning of the hop!! Stay tuned until the end of this post for all the sweet details on how to win some awesome prizes!!

I was so excited to play with the Turkish Nights Embossing Glitter!! And let me tell you, it didn't disappoint!  It is so sparkly and gorgeous and worked perfectly for snowflakes. Non-traditional snowflakes, that is!

I stamped a bunch of snowflakes that are from the previously released P&M stamp set, Flurries. This is a chunky glitter so some details were lost but that didn't bother me at all!  I used the co-ordinating Flurries Dies to cut out each snowflake.  To continue on with this glittery theme, I die cut a "snowbank" using the Scallop Waves Dies and swiped the WOW Embossing Pad along the top to add  some shimmery snow.

To create a wintery background, I blended Shaded Lilac and Victorian Velvet Distress Inks onto my panel. I should mention that the panel was cut using the Cloudy Frame Dies but I only used the inner portion.

Not a super great blend (or photo, I apologize) but our beautiful snowflakes will cover most of that background!  I used the Snow Sweet Stamp set and co-ordinating dies for my focal image.  This set is filled with the cutest snow people, ever!!

I coloured these sweeties with my alcohol markers and popped them up on the blended panel.  All the snowflakes were adhered using liquid glue.

This stamp set lets you "build" your own sentiment so I chose "You're Snow Wonderful".  Because the snow is a bolder font, I was able to use the Turkish Nights embossing glitter on it as well!

I had "Snow Much Fun" (hahaha) making this card. Glittery snowflakes and cute snow people-can't go wrong with that!!

Up next on the hop is my super talented friend, Lynnea, who will knock your socks off!!

But before you go, check out how you can win some fabulous prizes!!

All you have to do is leave some love on each stop of the hop, easy right??! Pink & Main is giving away a $25.00 gift certificate to one lucky commenter and WOW Embossing Powders is giving away a set of 6 embossing powders with carry case!!!

Winners will be announced on the Pink&Main and Wow Embossing Powders Blogs on Wednesday, October 22nd at 9:00 am EST.  Good Luck, my friends!!

Thank you for stopping in today...enjoy the hop!!!!

Your Next Stamp Feature Day!!

Welcome to the Your Next Stamp Feature Day where the theme in "Christmas in July"!!  I am not even close to thinking about winter or Christmas but I must admit, it is nice to mix things up through out the year!  It was actually fun to dig through my seasonal stamps and have a play!

I own a few Christmas themed sets from YNS and did use one. But the main focal point comes from a non-Christmas stamp set. Did you know you could make a Christmas card out of ANY set you own? Just use traditional Christmas colours and sentiment and any image you use becomes festive!! Or, you can use a Christmas set in non-traditional colours...I love doing that!

Anyway, enough chatter. Let's take a look at what I made.

I stamped two To-Go Cups from the Thanks A Latte Stamp Set and coloured them in warm greys, green and red. This is the VERY FIRST stamp and die set I purchased from YNS...it's a classic!!  I used the co-ordinating dies to cut them out. The die set has super cute "sleeves" and other shapes to decorate your cups. I chose green and red papers to match the lids.

I stamped, coloured and die cut a few images from the Deck the Halls Stamp Set and foam mounted them to the cups. The greeting also comes from this set.  I foam mounted almost everything to an embossed, white card panel and added plenty of shimmer and shine with Glossy Accents and a sparkle pen.

I added a strip of red cardstock and silver glitter paper to the right side of the cardbase before adding the panel. The heart steam was an afterthought as I felt the top part of the card was a little too bare.

And that, my friends, is my first Christmas card of 2018!!!  I hope you enjoyed!  Now for the fun stuff...

Please go to the Your Next Stamp Blog and comment for a chance to win a stamp set of your choice!! One comment left on the blog will win.  You have until July 24th at 12:00 EST to leave a comment and the winner will be announced on the YNS blog on Jul 26th!!  Good luck!

Have a fabulous day!!

Laurie
